The Phoenix City

There are many beautiful parks in the city, and larger scenic areas such as the Great Wall are close by. Other sites, including Jingjue Temple, the Thousand Buddha Mountains, and South Lake Park, are well worth exploring.

Cinemas, restaurants, spas, bowling alleys, football pitches, badminton courts, and gyms are all available. In addition, there are plenty of bars and KTV parlours where people can relax and enjoy their free time. The restaurant scene is diverse, offering everything from traditional Chinese dining to Western fast food.

Why Tangshan?

Tangshan is known as “Phoenix City” because of the powerful sense of community and strength after an earthquake occurred fifty years ago. Since then, the city has completely rebuilt itself into a tourist destination using its natural beauty and lengthy history as focal points.

Herbert Hoover, the thirty-first President of the US, worked in the nearby Kailuan mine before ascending to the White House. His office has been replicated in a museum on-site.

A really popular venue is Little London, a western-style bar which serves great food to expats who frequent here
