The city is known to Chinese people as being home to some of China’s greatest historical thinkers, and as such, one of the best universities is based there. The campus for Wuhan University is on a hill overlooking the East Lake. Thanks to this school and nearly a dozen others, the Wuchang neighbourhood has a young and vibrant feel. It’s a great place to make new friends and join a close-knit teacher community.
From the lively street markets to the beautiful bridges crossing over the city’s two major rivers, there is no shortage of beautiful sights. To get around the city, you can choose to use public transit like the brand new metro system or take a taxi, the rate of which starts at 6 RMB – less than 1 USD!
Wuhan is known as one of the tea-drinking cities. People will normally take two-hour lunches and have tea at 4:00 pm. If you like to move at a slower pace, it is a great city to relax and enjoy life.
