Cikarang is located a two-hour drive from Jakarta and includes the government of Bekasi Regency. With many foreign companies located here, the city is supported by housing complexes scattered around the Cikarang industrial park that was built by a collection of top modern architects and contractors in Indonesia.
Despite this industrial activity, the city has a lot of nature and historical tourist attractions that can easily be visited at the weekend without any traffic jams. Visit Saung Ranggon in Cikedokan Village, a 400-year-old historical site built entirely with ironwood, while enjoying the traditional dance of West Java, Jaipong, and a Wayang Kulit show. Cikarang is also famous for Kampoeng Djamoe where you can learn about Indonesian herbal plants or herbal medicines made from various natural materials. In addition, there are also many lakes and organic rice fields with a cool atmosphere and a lot of green space.
Cikarang’s main urban areas are the well-known residential complexes, such as Kota Deltamas, Jababeka and Lippo Cikarang, making it a small city with a well-built infrastructure and complete facilities.
Cikarang is the central Dry Port for Indonesia with more than 2,500 companies, both multinational and small-medium enterprises (SMEs). Approximately 200 hectares (490 acres) are allocated for the Dry Port, which is accessible by highway and rail. It has attracted industries including tourism, household, food, and television.
Home to one of the biggest waterparks in Indonesia, Cikarang Water Boom. The sides of the pools are made of stone temples, with carvings (the only one like this in Indonesia) and surrounded by a planted forest, making it a class of its own.
The nearby city of Jakarta is well worth a weekend trip. The capital city of Indonesia is a bustling metropolis with a modern and urban environment that is a must-visit for shoppers and food lovers.
