The Fossil City
Guangji Pagoda, in the center of the city, is a gorgeous temple site. A 13-story octagonal shape, it is considered a prime example of Liao architecture. One day, hike across the tidal bay to Bijia Mountain and the next shop until you drop at the local markets. Another great experience is the traditional folk celebration on North Putuo Mountain.
Recent developments in the city mean that there are plenty of western-style apartments, fast food restaurants and transportation options, making quality of life very high.
Jinzhou is a great place to learn Chinese as many locals speak Mandarin. The local dialect is considered very similar to standard Mandarin, which makes befriending locals very easy
Travel to nearby major cities is suitable thanks to the city’s transportation infrastructure. You are also a short flight away from Japan and Korea
The city is also known for its link to the Jurassic period, as many geological fossils from that time period have been found in the area
Famous dishes include smoked chicken and seafood from Bohai Bay. Additionally, Lingchuan white wine is popular with locals
